In a leadership move that underscores the growing strategic importance of human capital in the education technology sector, Runu Jain has taken on the role of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Magic EdTech. With over 25 years of diverse HR leadership experience, her appointment marks a pivotal moment for the organization as it continues to scale globally while staying rooted in purpose, impact, and ethical innovation.
Magic EdTech operates at a unique convergence of technology, learning, and responsibility, where people strategy directly influences how education is designed, delivered, and experienced worldwide. In her new role, Runu brings a clear and thoughtful mandate—to build an organization where human potential and educational purpose evolve together, ensuring that growth is both meaningful and sustainable.
Her leadership philosophy places people at the heart of business outcomes. At Magic EdTech, the HR function extends beyond policies and processes to shaping culture, influencing product thinking, and embedding accountability across leadership. The focus is not merely on building skilled professionals, but on nurturing purpose-driven contributors who understand the long-term societal impact of their work.
Prior to this transition, Runu served as Senior Director – HR Business Partner at Birlasoft, where she spent nearly six years leading strategic HR initiatives at scale, including her tenure as Head HRBP. Her work there was characterized by a strong balance of business alignment and empathetic leadership—an approach that has consistently defined her career.
Her professional journey also includes significant leadership roles at IBM, where she spent close to a decade as HR Business Partner – DGM, along with earlier stints at Genpact, FedEx, Amway India Enterprises, and RPG Enterprises. Across these organizations, Runu has worked extensively in areas spanning talent management, employee engagement, mergers and acquisitions, performance governance, and diversity and inclusion, navigating complex transformations with clarity and composure.
A distinguishing aspect of her leadership is her ability to view decisions through both employee and customer lenses, enabling her to address organizational challenges while preserving trust, dignity, and transparency. Her background in coaching, conflict management, and strategic thinking further strengthens her ability to lead change in high-growth, dynamic environments.
At Magic EdTech, her vision for the people function is anchored in nurturing talent with intent rather than urgency, practicing inclusion as a lived value, and building careers that emphasize long-term growth over short-term outcomes. Leadership, under her stewardship, is expected to be empathetic, courageous, and deeply accountable—not only to business metrics, but to learners, educators, and communities that the organization ultimately serves.
Beyond organizational boundaries, Runu views HR as a conscience keeper for society—a function that plays a vital role in democratizing access to quality digital education, creating meaningful employment, and ensuring ethical considerations remain central to innovation and scale. This perspective aligns closely with Magic EdTech’s broader mission of shaping future-ready learning ecosystems with integrity.
As Magic EdTech continues its growth journey, Runu Jain’s appointment as CHRO reflects a strong commitment to people-first leadership and values-driven transformation. Her presence at the helm of the people function signals an intent to scale with responsibility, culture, and purpose firmly intact.
At HRostrum, we extend our best wishes to Runu Jain for this new chapter in her leadership journey and wish her continued success as she leads with clarity, conviction, and purpose.
